Why do school kids hate History so much? (It’s not just History, but that’s a good place to start here.) It’s because all those dusty old dates and places and dead people are completely irrelevant to what they’re interested in today.
Of course they aren’t irrelevant at all, it’s just that the kids have very little context to attach to those old facts. History holds many keys to the present, and even the future, and as we know, those who refuse to learn from History will inevitably repeat it, in life as in school.
Several years ago, I launched a website, same name as this one, which was intended as a blog to showcase my thoughts and opinions on a variety of subjects. Along the way, my interests became more and more focused on a particular aspect of Christian Life, centered around the Change of Covenant. It seemed to me to be the defining event of the Church as a whole; still does, in fact; and as such, it needs to be studied, contemplated, and taught as much as any other aspect of Christianity. In my mind, the Change of Covenant is fundamental to all of Christianity.
Obviously, I am not the person to tackle this job. And yet, here we are. My original website came to an end, due to financial considerations, and I wondered if I would ever dare to try again. Have I learned enough from History to try again? Time will tell. Will I avoid the mistakes of the past? Am I at least creative enough to make different mistakes? Only one way to find out!
In the words of Martin Luther, “Here I stand, I can do no other. God help me.”
Stay tuned. Things are about to happen.
Cheers, and God Bless,
